Our Story
Hypoport Africa was founded in 2010. With the same idealism as the PRoMMiSe platform technology was developed starting in 2002, Christiaan Pennekamp and John Doidge wanted to develop the PRoMMiSe platform for Africa to increase the transparency of structured finance products in the region with the aim of helping structured finance businesses grow in Africa.
The PRoMMiSe founding team called the business in 2002 PROMMISE – an acronym for “Portfolio Risk Loan Management System” – and focused on building an overall solution for assets and liabilities across the world. The platform enables financial institutions to structure assets, monitor asset and liability revenue streams, and control and process the underlying structured bonds in one platform and technology.
